It was a beautiful, sunlit evening on Wednesday 14th June at Mount Street Gardens, Mayfair, for our 2017 Summer Garden Party. More than 300 guests enjoyed the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the entertainment and meeting friends.
The Party was opened by Louise Hyams, Deputy Lord Mayor of Westminster and joined later by our Member of Parliament, Mark Field. RSMSJ Chairman Lois Peltz welcomed everyone to the Party. Later in the evening Mark Henderson, Steering Group Chairman of the Mayfair Neighbourhood Forum spoke about the forthcoming neighbourhood plan.
New supporters as well as our loyal sponsors, added taste and interest this year. Wiltons of St James’s served freshly shucked oysters while Annabel’s private club- soon to re-open in Berkeley Square – offered guests their take on afternoon tea with cocktails. Morton’s private members club provided a high-class barbecue and Porsche Mayfair served more than 1,000 canapes. Drinks of all colours and types flowed all evening.
Our entertainments included roulette from Palm Beach Casino, part of Genting plc, and the wheel never stopped spinning. Music was from The Classic Jazz Band fronted by a gorgeous female singer. To top it all off our saucy auctioneer, Addison Gelpy, master of the double entendre, rattled through 20 prizes of gifts, services and the famous restaurant tree.
New features this year included the photographic competition, Mayfair in Focus, organised by Grosvenor and judged by magazine picture editors. Craft stalls from local galleries and boutiques were also given space and included Imitate Modern, Varana World and Osmonde Jayne.
Our thanks to our sponsors, supporters, guests and everyone who made the party such a success. Until next year!
