After a few weeks of uncertain weather in London, the sun shone on the Summer Garden Party held in Mount Street Gardens on Wednesday 22nd June. More than 300 guests flocked into the Gardens to be met by Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen, this year’s Party theme. The Party was opened by the new Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Steve Summers and the RSMSJ Chairman, Lois Peltz.
Our generous sponsors, Grosvenor Estates, Genting plc, Chestertons and Savills made the evening viable with ticket price set at £30 for members.
All our favourites were at the Party. Our saucy auctioneer Addison Gelpey had Alice and her gang to hand out the super prizes and there was the odd double entendre from Addison. Our regular cocktail bar, Shaken and Stirred ,provided a range of Alice themed cocktails which got heads spinning. The roulette wheel from Crockfords, part of Genting plc, never stopped spinning either.
Two new supporters added greatly to the Party’s fun and food. Mortons, the private members club on Berkeley Square, ran a large barbecue of exquisite mini burgers. Porsche of Mayfair had their latest Boxster sports car on display plus exotic food and drinks. Browns Hotel supplied us with their sophisticated range of canapés.
Our raffle featured 18 splendid prizes from Mayfair hotels, restaurants and retailers. And the band, Contrabande, a Cuban salsa band, played on until closing time. Some of us even got dancing by the end of the Party. Our thanks to everyone involved in yet another successful summer garden party.
