Dear RSMSJ Members

History Talk : 'Before May Fair Became Mayfair'

We're delighted to announce that our first lecture by Dr. Francis Boorman on the
History of Mayfair entitled 'Before May Fair Became Mayfair' will take place
in the Arrupe Hall in Farm St Church on the 15th of July 2025, 18.30-20.00.

Dr. Boorman will chart how the open fields between Hyde Park and the spreading metropolis were built up into a wealthy suburb of grand houses. The story is not always straightforward, taking in clandestine marriages,
an overflowing burial ground, and the Impiety and Vice' of the May Fair.

The lecture is free for RSMSJ members, please
email communityliaison@rsmsj.com to register your attendance with the subject line: 'Before May Fair Became Mayfair' Royal Parks free ticket offer exclusively to RSMSJ Members

The Residents’ Society of Mayfair and St. James’s is the official amenity society recognised by Westminster City Council and the Grosvenor Estate for Mayfair and St James’s.

More than that, we are a volunteer-run organisation which seeks to unify our community for social gatherings in the spirit of our neighbourhood, and to support our residents and traditional businesses to fight to protect this special place in the world. We seek to protect residential amenity, and enhance it where possible.

Our resident members are integral to helping us fulfill this mission. By joining the RSMSJ you lend your voices to many, so that together we can be heard and help safeguard our community for tomorrow.
We are looking for more volunteers to join us - we need help with planning, licensing and event organisation.

Resident Membership of the RSMSJ is only £10 per year for individuals, to cover the organisation’s expenses.
Associate and business membership categories are also available, to enquire about joining or
