Nickie Aiken MP: Weekly Review - Here's to 2022!

Happy New Year!

Watch my reflection on 2021, another extraordinary year.

Happy New Year! 2021 has been another extraordinary year, and I want to reflect and share some of the work that I campaigned on over the last year on your behalf.

I campaigned for better newborn baby screening services, and I'm delighted the Chancellor announced a pioneering trial for Generation Genome, which will turbocharge our newborn screening, with tests for over 200 rare diseases.

I worked with the Marylebone Society to lobby the Government to improve air quality around Marylebone Station. Thank you to everyone who signed my first Parliament Petition and made their voice heard!

I spoke out in Parliament to raise awareness and increase support for the menopause. It's a life changing time, and we all need to know what is happening, and how we may be affected.

I brought my Pedicabs Bill back to Parliament, and with your support, I will continue making the case in the new year to get my legislation passed.

I continued my work with St Mungo's, The Passage and Crisis to lobby the Government to repeal the Vagrancy Act which currently criminalises rather than supports rough sleepers. I am pleased the Government are in listening mode, and I welcome the £640 million to help and increase rough sleeping services.

2021 has been a year like no other, and I am incredibly grateful for all your support. I wish you all the best, and hope for a happy and healthy 2022.

Here's to 2022!
