The Dorchester Anniversary Tree Walk
The Dorchester Hotel is celebrating its 80th Anniversary this year and to commemorate it
Tree for Cities are working in partnership with The Dorchester to plant large canopy,
majestic, long-living trees across the capital as part of the ‘Future Great Trees’ project.
Through this project Trees for Cities and the Dorchester are creating a
legacy of trees in London, providing shade, cleaning the air and beautifying our city.

The Grosvenor Chapel Community Carol Service will be held on Tuesday 13th December at 6.30pm.
It will feature the Grosvenor Chapel choir and St. George's School choir, in association with the Residents' Society of Mayfair & St James's.
Refreshments will be generously provided by Killik & Co

New West End Company would like to inform you of an event taking place in Oxford Street on Tuesday 1 November 2011 when Oxford Street will switch on its world-famous Christmas lights.
The switch-on event will take place outside Marks & Spencer Marble Arch from 5pm and promises to provide an exciting free event for all to enjoy.
Oxford Street will be closed to traffic from Portman Street to Orchard Street from 4pm to 8pm. Orchard Street will continue to run north/south but there will be no right turn into Oxford Street.

Hello All! Hope you all had a fabulous summer and are all well and available on Thursday, October 27th for the resumption of the film evenings. The kick off film will be " The Barefoot Contessa " with Humphrey Bogart and Ava Gardner. Please mark in your calendars the November screening which will be Tuesday, November 15th. The film will be " Moonstruck " with Cher and Nicholas Cage and is funny and charming. I think Humphrey and Ava speak for themselves.

A Greening Event will take place at One Mayfair, North Audley Street, W1K 6ZA on Monday 26 September at 6.00pm.
There will be Speakers and Stands, Wine and Canapes (provided by The Dorchester).

The Residents' Society of Mayfair & St James's SUMMER GARDEN PARTY is on Monday 27th June 2011 From 6.30 pm to dusk at Mount Street Gardens, Library Entrance, South Audley Street
Our Summer Garden Party has gained a resplendent reputation as one of Mayfair's best evenings and we plan to repeat - and hopefully better - this fine tradition in 2011. It will be held from 6.30pm in the delightful Mount Street Gardens and go on until dusk (about 9 pm).

'Mister Roberts'. is a bittersweet comedy with Henry Fonda, James Cagney, William Powell and Jack Lemmon. It was made in the 1950's and takes place on board a military cargo ship during WW2. The Film Club will be showing this on Tuesday 21st June. PLease join us at 6pm for refreshments. The film begins at 630pm.
This will be the the last film night until we resume in October.

The Film Club is planning a Murder Mystery Fund Raiser on May 19th to benefit our threatened library. They are hosting an evening of dinner, drinks and entertainment. The Murder Mystery evening is set to take place at a party the night before the Oscars to honour the nominees. You will meet the characters, watch the murder unfold and follow the clues to solve the crime. You may choose to dress as a film star or attendee at the party or just come as yourself and enjoy the fun. There will be prizes for best costume and greatest sleuths. The funds raised will benefit the Mayfair Library.

Our next presentation is " Sophie's Choice " with Meryl Streep and Kevin Kline on Thursday 14 April. We will be starting refreshments as usual at 6pm and film at 630pm. Lately attendance has fallen off a bit so please try to make film nights when possible so we can continue to run the event next year.

The owners of The Punch Bowl pub in Farm St /South St have applied for a live music licence.
You can put your views before Westminster's Licencing Officer and the applicants at meeting at the Library on Monday April 11th at 7pm.

Author Cyrus Moore will be talking about his city thriller novel 'City of Thieves' and Deborah Hargreaves (Chair of High Pay Commission) will be considering how convincing his insider's view of life in the City of London really is. The Autumn season of the Mayfair Film Club begins with a showing of ARSENIC & OLD LACE with Cary Grant on Tuesday 12 October at the Mayfair Library, South Audley Street. The film begins at 6.30 but refreshments will be served at 6pm. The screening is open to all and is free and there is no need to book.
