Dear All,
I am pleased to announce that the nuisance-vehicle Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) consultation is now live:
vehiclepspo.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/extending-the-nuisance-vehicle-pspo/step1
Urgent: we have only fourteen days until the 27th November to submit our evidence and concerns about the noise and danger from revving and speeding cars and associated anti-social behaviour and crime, for Mayfair to be included in the (PSPO).
Please see below the communications from Chelsea Coleman of Westminster City Council also containing the link to the PSPO consultation.
Please note; all of Mayfair is proposed to be included under ‘New Bond Street’. Please click the ‘New Bond Street’ option and add the names into the observations box of the additional streets you are concerned with and the types of behaviour experienced, e.g. noise, speeding, aggression, disruption, obstruction, the nuisance caused by the followers, danger for pedestrians, crime.
If we are to stop the increasing degradation of Mayfair by car-meets and the crime it is bringing, and prevent years more damage to quality of life and safety for the whole community, then we must act now.
The process is, unfortunately, bureaucratic and ftime-consuming and puts the onus on each of us - both businesses and residents individually - not the authorities, to provide the evidence and arguments into the consultation for a PSPO in Mayfair to help protect us. If we do not upload our observations then the PSPO will not cover Mayfair and we will suffer a worsening problem.
Do contact Chelsea if you have queries or need help.
After much effort re the above, Westminster have now included Mayfair in the proposed renewal and expansion of the PSPO.
I have initiated this and now need your support in uploading your evidence/observations to ensure that Mayfair is included in the PSPO for the next three years. The RSMSJ (Residents’ Society of Mayfair and St James’), will now develop this further with you and the larger community. I understand that it will be raised at the RSMSJ meeting tomorrow, Thursday 14th Nov.
MNF: Gordon Morrison; can you please disseminate to your business members and urge them to engage with this too should they have concerns.
I realise that it is a short deadline but that is normal for council consultations.
Thank you for your involvement over the last months and the many communications. If there are enough responses into the consultation, the PSPO should be in place early in the new year.
Thank you for your participation.
Regards,
Anne Gray
Dear Anne,
I hope that you are well.
I am pleased to announce that the nuisance vehicle Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) consultation is now live: vehiclepspo.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/extending-the-nuisance-vehicle-pspo/step1
The vast majority of people drive responsibly however, the council and police continue to receive complaints about anti-social and often dangerous driving in and around the West End.
In response to these complaints the Council established a PSPO in 2021 and we are consulting on renewing this order for a further 3-years from December 2024 to December 2027.
The order prohibits the following activities between the hours of 12 noon and 6am in the location shown in the map below:
Please do share the consultation link far and wide so that residents and businesses across the West End can have their say. The consultation link will be live until 27th November 2024.
Kind regards,
Chelsea Coleman
