RSMSJ events

Dear Members,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the first of our series of talks on the
History of RSMSJ, our neighbourhood,  the architecture,
public spaces and gardens of Mayfair and St James
.

The first lecture by Dr. Francis Boorman on the History of Mayfair entitled 'Before May Fair Became Mayfair' took place in the Arrupe Hall Farm St Church on the 15th of July 2025 - 18.30-20.00.

Dr. Boorman talked about how the open fields between Hyde Park and the spreading metropolis were built up into a wealthy suburb of grand houses. The story was fascinating, taking in clandestine marriages, an overflowing burial ground, and the 'Impiety and Vice' of the May Fair.

Please email communityliaison@rsmsj.com to give your impressions of the lecture with the subject line:
'Before May Fair Became Mayfair'

Please also write to us to tell us what kind of events you'd like us to organise and suggest potential functions, speakers and venues.

We invite you to take part in the other events being hosted in and around Mayfair and St James, listed below.

Best Wishes
RSMSJ
