Please do check it out. Let the council know that we exist, here, a residential community right next to Oxford Street. Make some suggestions, send comments, positive, asking for changes, whatever.
My view is that they should have involved residents earlier in the design process, as we are stakeholders, our streets are affected by how Oxford Street is laid out, how it is managed.
Their new plans for Oxford Street don’t include protecting residents from the stressors from Oxford Street business successes.
They don’t say where the squeezed-out traffic will go. Into our side streets? And will bus numbers be reduced?
Nor do they provide parking bays on Oxford Street for deliveries and waste collections, to reduce numbers of noisy collections & deliveries under our windows.
Nor do they offer to ban deliveries and waste collections from our residential streets between, say, 8pm and 7am. They could do that. GMRA asked the earlier Oxford Street Project to do that a few years back.
Drop-in is today and next Wednesday, at the Salvation Army Regent Hall 275 Oxford Street.
This before Oxford Circus on the right hand side (about opposite John Lewis). Has a Salvation Army flag hanging outside it.
There are maps on the walls. And presentations.
