A message from the Leader of Westminster City Council.

Today is a major milestone for Westminster as restaurants, pubs and cafes are able to open up inside at last. Not only is the hospitality industry hugely important for Westminster as an employer – supporting around 80,000 jobs – but it is one of the reasons visitors come to central London. The fact that people living in Westminster can now support their local pub or favourite restaurant feels like a huge stride back to normality.

The Council will keep supporting al fresco dining as we head into the summer, and the success of this scheme means we now have the equivalent of 200 extra restaurants.

We also welcome back our theatres, galleries and world-beating cultural institutions. The Council is working with some famous names to deliver a series of great events – many of them free – to showcase the unique attractions we have on our doorstep. Be sure to catch the Inside Out exhibition in July and West End LIVE as it makes a welcome return this September.

The lifting of restrictions is still dependent on us all following the Government’s health advice, and this newsletter has links to the latest. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy our fabulous City as it opens up once more.
