Join westminster’s climate action activities

Posted on: 24/10/2021

In the run up to COP26, Westminster City Council is hosting a number of activities to draw attention to the climate emergency and help people in Westminster to take action. Please join us for the events below or pass them on to anyone who may be interested.

Alongside these events, we’ll soon be launching Westminster’s Climate Action Plan – more details coming soon!

Carbon Bubble display and campaign launch
Thursday 28 October, 8am to 5pm, Trafalgar Square

On 28 October, we’re working with PwC to raise awareness of the urgent need to tackle climate change and reduce our carbon emissions – with a giant ‘Carbon Bubble’ installation in Trafalgar Square. The bubble represents one tonne of carbon, helping people to visualise the pollution emitted through our day-to-day activities.

Alongside the bubble, we’ll be launching a climate action campaign, calling on everyone in Westminster to come together to help tackle the climate emergency.

Westminster’s Climate Emergency team will be at the launch to answer questions and talk about what the council is doing to tackle climate change. There will also be recycled arts and crafts to get children involved in making their own pledges. If you would like to ask questions to the team, pop along to Trafalgar Square between 8am and 5pm and find out more about the campaign by keeping an eye on our website and social media channels.

Climate Action Community Open Days
Saturday 6 and 13 November, 2pm to 5pm

We will also be holding two community open days at which residents and businesses can find out more about how to reduce their carbon emissions. We’ll be showcasing community projects, advice, and services, from planting, cooking and eating, to recycling, energy saving, sustainable transport and much more.

The events will take place on Saturday 6 and Saturday 13 November and you can find out more, including how to register on our website.
