Dear Members,

We wanted to share news from Westminster City Council about a new Community Planning Advice Service now available to residents, businesses and community groups across the borough.

Launched on Monday 28th April, this pilot service offers free, independent advice on major planning applications in Westminster - those proposing 10 or more new homes or 1,000m² or more of floorspace. It is being delivered by Planning Aid for London, a long-standing organisation with over 50 years’ experience in supporting communities to engage with planning matters.

The service is designed to help residents:

  - Better understand large and often complex development proposals
 - Learn which planning policies and guidance apply
 - Make informed comments and responses as part of the planning process

We are grateful to Westminster Council for introducing this initiative to make the planning system more accessible and inclusive.

You can request advice, or refer others to the service, via the Community Planning Advice Service portal on the Commonplace website: https://westminstercpas.commonplace.is/.
The site also features an interactive map showing all current major planning applications across the City.

Please note: the service is available only for major applications.
 With thanks as always,
Residents' Society of Mayfair and St James's
