Thank you in advance for giving your views on the proposal for the GLA to become a responsible authority for licensing. The Consultation is now closed (page can be found here and the Draft Policy on this link )

The draft policy significantly emphasizes expanding the nighttime economy, which raises concerns about impartiality. Other expectations, including partnership working, clear representations, and a focus on mitigation, are already standard practice.
The most significant part of this consultation - the ‘Call In’ power: would represent a major change for all parties, if a licensing decision is of strategic importance e.g. involving a major cultural venue or a location like a high street, the Mayor can intervene.

Please let us know if you supported or opposed this ‘Call In’ power as it aims to ensure licensing decisions support the London-wide economic and cultural priorities and create a 24-hour City, in the areas already saturated with late-night licensed premises, without due consideration for the negative impact on the local residents and our communities.
