Security Update: 9/11 Commemoration at Grosvenor Square

Posted on: 09/09/2026

Dear RSMSJ community,

We wanted to share the security update from AR Global regarding the 9/11 commemoration taking place at the September 11 Memorial Garden in Grosvenor Square on Friday, 11th September 2026.

As this year marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, enhanced security and policing measures are expected in and around Grosvenor Square throughout the day.

Please note the following:

Grosvenor Square Gardens will be closed to the public from 7.00am to 6.30pm.

There will be controlled access and increased security presence in the surrounding streets.

Residents should expect possible road restrictions and delays around Grosvenor Square, Upper Grosvenor Street, Brook Street, Duke Street and Carlos Place.

At present, there are no specific demonstrations confirmed, but residents are advised to remain aware of their surroundings given the significance of the anniversary.

If you are travelling through the area on Friday, we recommend allowing some extra time and considering alternative routes where possible.

Please see the attached update for further information, and as always, we encourage everyone to stay alert and follow any advice or instructions from the police and other official sources.

Kind regards,
The Residents’ Society of Mayfair & St James’s
