A Wonderful Day to Connect, Enjoy and Celebrate Our Older Community
Posted on: 17/09/2026Silver Sunday - Sunday 4 October 2026
Silver Sunday is a national day celebrating older people and bringing communities together through fun, welcoming activities. It is a lovely opportunity to meet others, try something new, explore our local area and enjoy time together.
This year, dozens of events are taking place across Westminster and beyond, with something for everyone. From walks, tours and afternoon teas to art classes, performances, exercise sessions and opportunities to discover more about Westminster’s history and culture, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Some of the highlights include tours and a coffee morning at the Royal Opera House, London Zoo history tours, an All Abilities Art Class, a trip to the London Transport Museum, Senior Swim sessions and community lunches.
Whether you are looking to get active, enjoy the arts, learn a new skill, meet people in your community or simply spend a pleasant afternoon with others, Silver Sunday offers plenty of opportunities to connect.
Many activities have limited spaces and require advance booking, so we recommend booking early. There are also a number of drop in events available.

Silver Sunday began in Westminster in 2012 as a way of tackling loneliness and celebrating the valuable contribution older people make to our communities. It has since grown into a nationwide celebration of connection, wellbeing and social inclusion.
We hope our members and local residents will take the opportunity to discover what is happening in Westminster and join in this Silver Sunday.
