Walk for Water: Supporting Access to Clean Water in Tanzania

Posted on: 19/10/2026

RSMSJ was delighted to hear from Kevin, a 15-year-old local resident who has taken the initiative to make a difference to the lives of children in Tanzania. Protecting our environment and supporting sustainable communities are important, and we are always pleased to champion inspiring initiatives that raise awareness of global challenges and encourage positive change. Kevin's commitment to this cause is truly admirable, and we are delighted to support and share his campaign with our Mayfair community.

Kevin, who lives locally in Mayfair and is currently in Year 11, has launched Walk for Water, a fundraising and awareness campaign to help children in Tanzania access clean water and improve their opportunities for education.

After visiting Tanzania last Easter, Kevin was deeply affected by the challenges faced by children who have to walk long distances to collect water for their families. Girls as young as seven can spend hours fetching water, often missing school or arriving exhausted, which has a significant impact on their education and future opportunities.

Determined to make a difference, Kevin has started a social media campaign in which he walks 10km, the average round trip made by those collecting water, and sometimes even further, to raise awareness of the issue and encourage support for the cause.

As a member of our local Mayfair community, Kevin is asking residents and businesses to support his campaign and help make clean water more accessible to children in Tanzania.

How you can help

You can support Kevin's campaign by following his journey, sharing his message and contributing to his fundraising appeal.

Every contribution and share can help raise awareness of the importance of clean water and its vital role in children's education.

RSMSJ is proud to support this inspiring initiative from a young member of our local community. Kevin's determination to turn what he witnessed into meaningful action is a wonderful example of how one person can make a difference, and we encourage our residents to get behind his efforts.
